Group -2 Exam Pattern

 

APPSC Group 2 exam pattern is a very important component of the group 2 exam preparation. The exam pattern sets the tone for the intensity of preparation of the topics. It defines the mien of preparation and the intensity of focus on the topics.

Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) defines the APPSC Group 2 exam pattern in the official notification.

APPSC Group 2 Exam Conducts in Two Stages:

  • Screening Test (Objective Type) (Degree Standard)
  • Main Examination (Objective Type) (Degree Standard)
  • Interview/Document Verification

 

APPSC Group 2 Exam pattern – Prelims exam

The prelims exam is the screening exam only and the marks secured by the candidates in the APPSC Group 2 prelims exam is not considered for the final merit. Irrespective of being a screening exam only, the importance of the prelim’s exam is very high because it is mandatory to qualify in the prelim’s exam only after that the candidate can compete in the main exam.
The prelims exam consist of one paper only having three sections conducted through offline mode.  The time limit for the paper is 150 minutes. The structure of the paper is as follows:

The total number of questions will be 150. There is no sectional break-up of the questions and marks. It implies that the ratio of questions from each of the section is not fixed and the candidates should expect surprises in the paper with respect to the number of questions from each section.

APPSC Group 2 Exam Pattern – Main exam

The APPSC Group 2 main exam is also an objective type paper which is different from the APPSC Group 1 main exam which is a descriptive type exam. The main exam has three papers and each paper has the time limit of 150 minutes. The structure of the main exam is as follows

Negative marking in APPSC Group 2 Exam

There is a provision of negative marking in the prelims and the main exam.  There will be a penalty of (1/3rd) of the marks assigned to the question, for each of the wrong answer marked by the candidate. There will be no negative marking where the answers left blank or where the answers are not marked by the candidates.

Computer Proficiency Test (Qualifying Test) for eligible candidates in the ratio of 1:2 with reference to total number of vacancies notified.

The selections to these posts will be based on the marks/merit obtained by the candidates in the Written Main examination subject to rule of reservation, local reservation etc. duly following special representation as laid down in General Rule-22 and 22-A of A.P. State and Subordinate Service Rules, and also with due regard to special/ technical qualifications if any. 

Candidates must appear for all the three papers in written examination. 

 There will be no waiting list. If eligible candidates are not available, such vacancies will be carried forward to the next notification.

Interview/Document Verification: Candidates have to produce Original documents and other particulars at the time of verification.
