Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission Group II exam is a yearly affair of the APPSC to recruit the candidate for some gazetted and some non-gazetted positions in the state Andhra Pradesh. APPSC notified the vacancies as Executive and Non-Executive posts. The APPSC Group 2 exam is the three-phase exam which includes Prelims, Mains and personality test.

APPSC Group 2 Eligibility

APPSC Group 2 is a very popular exam among the APPSC aspirants. The common eligibility for the APPSC group 2 exam is the graduate degree. 

The detail eligibility criteria are defined as below.

  • He/ She is a citizen of India
  • He / She is of sound health, active habits and free from any bodily defect or infirmity rendering him unfit for such service
  • His / Her character and antecedents are such as to qualify him for such service

(h) Bachelor’s Degree and Proficiency in Office Automation with the usage of Computer and associated software” conducted by the APPSC/DSC.

Important Point to Remember

The minimum qualifying marks for consideration of a candidate to the selection process are 40% for OCs including Ex-Servicemen and Sportspersons, 35% for BCs, and 30% for SCs, STs and PHs or as per rules.

There are Physical Requirements for the post of Prohibition & Excise Sub Inspector in A.P. Prohibition & Excise Sub-Service

a) For Men:

i) Must not be less than 165 cm in height.

ii) Must not be less than 81 cm round the Chest on full expiration with a minimum expansion of 5 cm

Provided if ST candidates with the above measurements are not available, it may be relaxed the requisite height and it shall not be less than 160 cm.

Provided the members of A.P.M.S; Drivers and Attenders working in Prohibition & Excise Department shall possess a minimum height of 163 cm, if otherwise eligible.

b) For Women:

i) Must not be less than 152.5 cm in height.

ii) Must not weigh less than 45.5 Kgs.

c) Vision standards as per G.O.Ms.No.147, Finance (HR.I.Plg.Policy) Department, dated: 06.08.2016 is applicable.

In addition to the educational qualification required for the APPSC Group 2 exam, no candidates shall be eligible for appointment to the above postcodes unless he/she qualifies the proficiency in office automation with the usage of computer and associated software conducted by the APPSC after the verification of original certificates.

APPSC Group 2 Vacancies

The APPSC Group 2 vacancies are notified in the official notification. The APPSC Group 2 vacancies influence the exam cut off and hence the APPSC Group 2 result also depends on the number of vacancies indirectly.

Age Limit for APPSC Group 2 Exam

Age limit is the other criteria which are essential to be fulfilled. For all the posts notified in the APPSC Group 2 is as follows

  • The lower age limit is 18 years
  • The upper age limit is 42 years.

The age limit for the Prohibition & Excise Sub Inspector in A.P. Prohibition & Excise Sub-Service is as follows:

  • The lower age limit is 18 years.
  • The upper age limit is 28 years.

The Age will be counted from July 1 of the exam year.
The Age relaxation will also apply to the reserved category candidates in the following way

APPSC Group 2 Exam Selection Process

 APPSC Group 2 is a two-phase exam.

  • Screening (Prelims) in Offline Mode
  • Mains online Mode.

APPSC Group 2 Prelims (Screening) Exam

After the Application process, the APPSC will conduct the APPSC Group 2 Prelims exam in the offline mode at various centres across the state. The APPSC Group 2 screening exam as the name suggests is meant for the screening of candidates for the mains exam only. The marks obtained in the screening exam are not added for the final merit. 

APPSC Group 2 Main Exam

The online main exam is conducted at the designated centres only and the marks obtained in the APPSC Group 2 main exam are added for the final merit.

Important Points to Note

• Appearance in all the papers of computer-based examination/ main examination is compulsory. Absence in any of the papers will automatically render the disqualification of the candidature.
• The recruitment will be made to the vacancies notified only. There shall be no waiting list.
• The Candidates who have got Degrees through Open Universities/Distance Education mode are required to have recognition by the Distance Education Council, Government of India.
